TENETIS Auto-Tensioners

How they work.

Our auto-tensioners are motorised devices. They are powered by hydraulic motors, the most powerful and compact drive system available.

Each unit is fitted with a 2metre length of TENETIS rope which is free running and stays within the unit.

The motor is used to turn the tensioning spool through which the rope passes. The unit has an anti-rotation device which will only permit rotation of the spool in one direction.

In operation, using the valve lever, the motor turns the spool which winds the rope around itself during which time the rope becomes self-clinching. This generates the required tension, at which point the motor stops turning. The tension is then held in check by the anti-rotation device.

At this point the tension cannot be released as it’s mechanically locked and requires no further power. In addition, when the operator is satisfied with the tensioning operation he simply applies the security lever which then locks the device out.

On completion of all tensioning operations and before the driver sets off, the hydraulic supply from the HPU is disabled.

In order to release the tension, the HPU is enabled and then using the valve lever the anti-rotation device is released and the security lever is lifted, which allows the spool to freely rotate and the rope to become free running.

TENETIS auto-tensioners – ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

• Consistently applied tension in line with guidance (legally compliant: STF 350 daN)
• Standard tensioning force (STF) easily increased to 500 daN.
• Minimal effort by user to achieve tension (hydraulic power)
• Simple to operate (pull valve lever)
• Rapid in operation (2 to 3 seconds)
• Simple to release (push valve lever)
• Discreet mounting (in side rail of vehicle)
• Auto tensioners are maintenance free
• Tension can be applied at any angle (within 120 degree range)

Meets the requirements of BS EN 12195-2 AND THE LASHING POINTS REQUIREMENTS OF BS EN 12640

During the design phase our driving principles were ease of use and speed of operation while ensuring we meet the loading requirements of BS EN 12195-2 and the lashing points requirements of BS EN 12640
